Promoting Oral Health

In Nursery we promote good oral health habits to help teach our children the importance of looking after their teeth and establishing good habits.

There are three main themes in good dental health:

  • Keep sugary and acidic food and drinks to mealtimes.
  • Brush teeth at least twice a day with fluoride toothpaste.
  • Visit the dentist regularly.

In Nursery we do daily ‘Brush Bus’ which is a supervised tooth brushing programme where the children brush their teeth in class and learn about dental hygiene.

We provide a daily healthy snack for our children which is tooth friendly. We offer a selection of fruit, crackers, cheese, vegetables and water or milk.

For celebrations and birthdays we provide tooth friendly options and encourage parents to bring fruit rather than cakes to share with others. In Forest School, we are growing fruit trees and vegetables to educate the children about where foods come from and enjoy tasting them.
